Over 200 Bikes Donated to Those in Need
VelociRAX collaborated with the Highland Utah South Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to raise money and collect bike donations for Valley Behavioral Health in Salt Lake City. The community came together on January 22 and gathered nearly 270 bikes which far exceeded expectations. All bikes were triaged and stored in VelociRAX’s warehouse for six weeks so repair parts could be ordered. Other companies including Spry Cycles, Kali Protectives, and Bike Tube Brand contributed to the cause through donations and discounts which helped with repairs.
In addition to purchasing parts and helping get the donated bikes in working condition, VelociRAX helped purchase new helmets, locks, replacement tubes, and other supplies for the repair activity on March 12th.
The bikes moved through seven stations where they were washed, tubes and tires replaced (if needed), brake adjustment, shifting adjustment, seats, pedals, and grips replaced (if needed), and lube applied to the chain. After a final check, bikes were loaded on trailers and delivered.
Valley Behavioral Health offers a safe and healing environment for the personal needs of adults, children, and families. Valley assists individuals working through mental and behavioral health concerns at home, school, and community levels. Their services include stabilization, crisis management, coping mechanisms, and developing problem-solving skills often through community therapeutic activities, such as biking. It is our hope that the bikes donated will be used to assist efforts desired by the facility and that people have fun in the process! You can learn more about Valley Behavioral Health here.
We love what bikes have done for us, and we are excited to share the joy we experience with people in the Salt Lake area through this bike donation. We stand behind our racks, and we hope you join VelociRAX when we stand for a cause like Valley Behavioral Health. Join us for the next ride!
